Positivity Test

I have been thinking a lot lately about how I could challenge myself to be a better mother. I have just been feeling like I have been saying the boys' names over and over lately and no one is listening, so obviously I am going about something all wrong. I feel like this comes in stages and I know it goes through stages with the kids too. I am going to try really hard for the next week, to only say positive things to all of the boys and see if that works. Please keep me and the boys in your prayers and help me to be a more positive Mommy!(at least for a week) =)

If I tried this I would be saying things like, "Wow, that was really great form you had when I gave you a spanking....I am soooo proud of you for NOT getting your hand spanked!" LOL

I feel you Caci. J.T. called me a crackhead yesterday (heard it from school?).. so I guess I could say, "Nice diction J.T. I really like how you enunciated your words when you said 'Mom, you are SUCH a CraCKhead.' Now doesn't your bottom looks sooo pretty three shades of purple?"

On a different note, I hope that works for you... I've tried it before, and it does make everyone feel better. Unfortunately, we just have a LOT of meltdowns around here... Good luck!!!:)

Well, I think maybe some of you have taken this the wrong way. I am mainly talking about my middle child and youngest child but mainly the middle one. He tends to think that he does nothing right and I say his name all the time (which I do) It does seem nagging even to me but I have to get his attention some how and yes we do spank too but sometimes I just want his attention and he is not in trouble and I am hoping that I can help him have more self-confidence and not be so against everything all the time. And I am really tired of saying his name all the time. We will see how is goes.

I hope it works for you, Windy! I know it can be tough at times!!! But remember, like you said it comes in spells.

You know, when my kids were younger we did a lot more spanking. As they've gotten older, I'm more capable of staying calm & handling everything in a different way. I think I just stayed so stinkin' frustrated for a lot of years that spankings were the only way to really get through to them & let them know who was in charge. That's not to say that we're above spanking anybody now, but it just happens less frequently these days. I hope your weekend of positivity went well!
